Himalayan Hospital Successfully Performs Complex Kidney Transplant, Giving New Life to Young Man
The doctors at Himalayan Hospital, Jolly Grant, have achieved a significant medical milestone by successfully performing a complex kidney transplant on a young man suffering from multiple severe health conditions. The patient was diagnosed with Hepatitis C infection, a heart pumping rate of just 20%, and excessive calcium buildup in his arteries. Following the kidney transplant, the patient has fully recovered and has been discharged from the hospital.
Praveen (29), a resident of Tehri Garhwal, had been on hemodialysis for the past two years due to kidney failure. He was undergoing treatment under the supervision of Nephrologist Dr. Vikas Chandel at Himalayan Hospital. Given his deteriorating condition, doctors informed his family about the necessity of a kidney transplant, to which they agreed.
Before proceeding with the surgery, a team of doctors extensively analyzed the patient’s medical history and held multiple discussions to address potential complications that could arise during the transplant. The patient’s parents were briefed about the risks and the necessity of the procedure.
The patient’s father, Jaman Singh, was identified as the kidney donor. However, upon medical evaluation, it was discovered that his kidney arteries were unusually thin, making the transplant even more challenging. Despite these complexities, after carefully considering all available options, the medical team successfully performed the transplant.
Following the successful surgery and full recovery, the patient was discharged. His family expressed immense gratitude to the doctors and Himalayan Hospital for giving their son a new lease on life.
